Earlier this month, Independence Day was celebrated by many, most likely surrounded by friends and family honoring our nation’s birthday. Being immersed in fun all day makes it easy to forget any negatives that impact our lives. It was nice, but unfortunately, you can’t celebrate like that every day. If you’re in the agricultural industry, there’s no doubt you’ve encountered some negativities once or twice. So, how can you stay positive on a day-to-basis in a world full of negativity?
Here are four simple methods to help you stay positive:
- Find your “shine” – This could be a tangible item, a favorite quote, or a special person in your life. Honestly, this is whatever makes you shine with happiness regardless of the situation.
- Listen to music – Turn up the volume of your favorite station and sing a long! Believe me, you don’t have to match pitch for this to work!
- Take a break from social media – Crazy to think, but taking a break from the negative comments, stories, or people you see on social media can be a blessing. Go take a walk, read a book, or check the cows. Do something that’ll give your mind a break and let you breathe in some fresh air!
- Believe in your roots – Especially in the agricultural world, negativity can be vivid at times. It gets frustrating. You may start to even wonder why you’re growing this crop or raising these animals due to weather, illness, or outside parties in the first place. Even though our industry does come with some negativity, those who are involved with agriculture, are some of the most humble and strong individuals. You just have to believe you’re doing the right thing and remember your roots that got you here!
